"Crime and Punishment under Asian Cultures: Tradition and Innovation in Criminology"
Perhaps nowhere is more symbolic of the dual existence of ‘tradition and innovation’ than that of the 2020 ACS Conference host country Japan, which whilst being world-leaders in innovative technologies, simultaneously continues to retain and reproduce a rich cultural identity.
Understanding how these two facets manifest in crime and punishment, and the pressures and opportunities that they give rise to, is a key challenge for criminology in Asia and beyond and forms the central theme for this year’s annual conference. On behalf of the Asian Criminological Society and the Local Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan, to participate in the ACS 2020 Conference, “Crime and Punishment under Asian Cultures: Tradition and Innovation in Criminology".
